The Pacific West Region is recruiting for TEMPORARY seasonal positions not to exceed 1560 hours work in a service year.

Dates of employment will vary between sites depending on funding, weather conditions and visitation.

Within regulatory limitations, the length of initial appointment may be shortened or extended depending on work availability and funding.

To qualify for this position, you must: Have the ability to do the work of a Motor Vehicle Operator WG-5703-5 without more than normal supervision. (Screen out).

This includes work such as: operating a variety of motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds to transport personnel, material or equipment on public roads; perform preventative maintenance and repairs on vehicles; load and unload cargo safely, using tie downs, straps, chains, etc.

Has occasionally led a crew in the performance of these types of tasks.

Anticipated Entry on Duty: May-June 2026 Salary Range: $20.53 - $23.97 per hour.

Loads and unloads cargo, using appropriate tie-downs. Performs flagging duties for heavy equipment operators. Corrects and reports park hazards.

Transports passengers and cargo on public roadways in various traffic, road, and weather conditions. Occasionally leads a crew in the performance of these duties.

(WG 05 only) Physical Effort: Moderate physical effort may be required in making couplings between the vehicle and towed equipment.

Considerable physical effort may be required to change tires and make limited emergency repairs. Required to frequently lift items weighing over 50 pounds.

Work may involve climbing of ladders, scaffolding, and working in and around power tools and equipment.

Working Conditions: Incumbent is required to work outside and is exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures.

Operates vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads and is exposed to dirt and fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle.
