Full Job Description

A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

As a Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties: Performs a wide range of journeymen-level tasks such as plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry, masonry, and custodial.

Constructs and repairs doors, shelves, frame structures, windows, and trim. Paints various structures such as metal, wood, and masonry surfaces. Replaces plumbing fixtures and toilets.

Patches and repairs roofs and asphalt shingles. Constructs cement forms and mixes, pours, and levels cement and concrete. Maintains historic sites built with stone, mortar, and contemporary buildings.

Performs custodial duties such as emptying trash, waxing floors, cleaning drainage ditches and culverts, and unloading supplies.

Inputs data into Facility Management Software System (FMSS) including writing work orders and completing time sheets.
