Summary

This role involves working as a guidance counselor at a specialized school for deaf and blind students in South Carolina, where you'll collaborate with educators to deliver counseling programs that support students' academic, career, and personal growth.

You'll lead group activities, help students set goals, and address their unique needs related to sensory impairments.

Ideal candidates are compassionate educators with experience in counseling and a strong understanding of communication challenges faced by sensory-impaired individuals.

Key Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field
  • Licensure by the SC Department of Education in Guidance-Elementary, Secondary, Associate Guidance – Secondary, or Secondary Advance

  • Ability to implement developmentally appropriate group activities for student development

Discusses the comprehensive school counseling program work plan with the school administrators and the supervising director to work collaboratively with staff to implement a comprehensive school counseling program. Guidance Curriculum: Provides leadership and collaborates with other educators in the school-wide integration of the State Guidance curriculum standards for student development. Implements developmentally appropriate and prevention-oriented group activities to meet student’s needs and school goals. Assists all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career and personal/social skills, goals, and plans.

Requirements


Must have a Master’s Degree and Licensure by the SC Department of Education in Guidance-Elementary or Secondary or Associate Guidance – Secondary or Secondary Advance; and two (2) years’ experience teaching or counseling. Must have knowledge of the communication and cultural issues related to serving sensory impaired individuals.
