Full Job Description

Sanitarian 2

The sanitarian will conduct surveillance, evaluation, and inspection of food service and retail food service establishments, septic systems, wells, pools, mobile home parks, camp grounds, and other establishments as requested.

Investigate dog bites, suspected food borne illnesses, complaints by public, and other areas as assigned. Inspection of establishments to assure compliance with Clean Indoor Air Regulation.

Serve as chair of the Safety Committee and assure inspections of offices and fire drills are carried out on a regular basis.

Attend in-serve training and other meetings, conferences, or workshops pertaining to general environmental and public health sanitation programs. Assist with threat preparedness activities.

Review any problems encountered in the department with the Administrator.

Qualifications

Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
AND
Experience: One (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a sanitarian.

Special Requirements: Must be permitted as a sanitarian-in-training or certified as a sanitarian with the West Virginia State Board of Sanitarians or be eligible to be permitted or certified with the Board per the Reciprocity section of the Practice of Public Health Sanitation, W. Va. Code R. §20-4-4 et seq. Must possess a valid driver's license. Availability of an automobile for continuous use may be a requisite for employment.
