The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Division of Northern Region Support Services is recruiting for an Safety Officer in Fairbanks!

What you will be doing:The Northern Region Safety Officer leads and administers all regional health and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

This position serves as the region’s primary safety authority—overseeing compliance, training, accident reporting and investigations, MSHA coordination, hazardous materials management, and regulatory response—while providing technical guidance to leadership, field operations, and external agencies to protect employees, the public, and DOT&PF resources.

Who we are looking for:

Special Note:

• Incumbent must be knowledge in a myriad of subject, each subject requires a certification or approval from the approving agency: Professional Safety Officer either: Certified Safety Professional-American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), or Health and Safety, Inc (IBOEHS) First Aid/CPR/AED must be certified by Medic First Aid, Inc (current program) OSHA subjects must be certified and approved by OSHA, US Dept of Labor, as an OSHA Trainer

• Fire Extinguisher inspections must be approved and licensed by State of Alaska, Division of Fire and Life Safety

• AK Drivers’ License is recommended
