Full Job Description

This position is located in the Risk Management Agency (RMA), Deputy Administrator for Insurance Services (DAIS), Valdosta, GA Risk Management Region which serves Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Puerto Rico.

This position is designated as mobile work.

Mobile work is a condition of employment and is characterized by routine and regular travel to conduct work in customer or other worksites as opposed to a single authorized alternative worksite.

Time in grade: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.

To qualify for the GS-13 Senior Risk Management Specialist, you must demonstrate that you have specialized experience that includes knowledge and experience of programs, policies, procedures, and regulations applicable to insurance, reinsurance, and/or risk management and their interrelationship with insurance management functions and practices.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

  • Responsible for providing senior level guidance, direction, and assistance on regional risk management activities within the area of responsibility for the Regional Office (RO).
  • Serves as technical advisor to the Director with primary responsibility for providing program analysis and evaluation in direct support of the RO functions and responsibilities.
  • Provide guidance and support to RO staff administering underwriting standards, and perform, review and re-determine actuarial and underwriting decisions made by RO staff or deliverers of crop insurance.
  • Provide guidance to RO staff in the review and evaluation of existing and new crop programs, policies and procedures.
  • Research and monitor crop production, farming practices and trends, to ensure RMA procedures and policies remain current with modem agricultural practices.
