This job involves planning and executing heavy lifting operations using cranes and rigging equipment at a naval shipyard, ensuring everything is done safely and precisely to move massive items like machinery and propellers.
A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in rigging or construction who is detail-oriented, works well in teams, and prioritizes safety in high-stakes environments.
You will serve as a RIGGER in the Production Rigging Branch (Code 1450.2), Lifting and Handling Division (Code 1450) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
