Under the direct supervision of the Residential Director, this position serves as a mid-level direct support professional assisting OIDD-Pee Dee consumers with purchases, including, but not limited to:
  • Makes purchases for all consumers at Pee Dee Regional Center to include but not limited to clothing, electronics, adaptive equipment, adaptive clothing, active treatment materials and special events while utilizing appropriate funds.
  • Upon completion of shopping, mark and deliver all items purchased to each unit. Add all items purchased to the consumer's inventory sheet in Therap and indicate the disposition of any items discarded and/or removed from inventory.
  • Complete state shopping for residential unit needs to include but not limited to decorations and other needs to enhance the look of the residence.
  • Monitors supply needs on a regularly scheduled basis as well as storage areas in person or communicating with residential staff.
  • Provides direct hands-on individual care to all consumers as needed. Follows sound professional techniques according to BHDD-OIDD guidelines, rules and regulations.

    Participates in training and provides guidance to consumers in the development of activities of daily living skills.

    Ensures the health and safety of each consumer while assigned to a residential building.

    May be required to stay over or work an additional shift to ensure proper staff levels are maintained to ensure the safety of consumers.

    Transports and monitors consumers to off-campus appointments, programs and activities as needed. Provides support with direct hands-on individual as required.

    Provides direct hands-on individual care to all consumers as needed, treats consumers with dignity and respect according to agency policy and procedures by providing choices, interacting in a positive non-demeaning way providing positive reinforcement and privacy.

    Participates in training and provides guidance to consumers in the development of proper personal hygiene habits, clothing choices, etc. as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and on-going as needed to effectively complete job duties.

The position for this posting is located at Pee Dee Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Florence, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Sign-on bonus for eligible candidates will be distributed after three, six, nine, and twelve months of successful continuous Full-Time employment.

This position is eligible for up to $3.50/hour shift differential for applicable shifts!

Requirements

A High School Diploma or GED, and three (3) years of experience working with Individuals with Disabilities and Special Needs. A valid drivers license.

Qualifications

Administrative abilities and general knowledge of intellectual disabilities. Basic computer skills to include the use of Therap and SCEIS Central for time and leave purposes (Electronic Documentation System). Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and basic safety practices. Physical abilities including lifting, pushing, standing, stooping, kneeling, and running. Ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments for certain periods of time.
