Job Description

Summary

This part-time role involves supporting people with chronic mental health challenges in a group home setting, helping them build everyday skills like personal care, cooking, and social interactions to live more independently.

You'll assist with daily activities, safety, and community outings while documenting progress and joining team meetings.

It's ideal for compassionate individuals with patience and a desire to work flexible hours in direct care, such as those entering social services or with experience helping others.

Key Requirements

  • Assist residents with self-care skills including personal hygiene, nutrition, cooking, laundry, housekeeping, and safety practices
  • Teach and model independent living skills like problem-solving, communication, interpersonal relations, and money management
  • Provide direct support for community integration, including shopping, public transportation, family interactions, and medication adherence
  • Participate in team meetings, develop individual service plans, and maintain records such as progress notes, assessments, and monthly reports
  • Maintain the residential facility, including upkeep of the house, grounds, fire safety, and equipment
  • Escort residents to programs and attend mandatory trainings in first aid, CPR, fire safety, medication management, and orientation
  • Availability for part-time, as-needed shifts up to 28 hours per week, including weekends, holidays, and occasional extra hours

Requirements

This position serves as a part-time, as needed Residential Program Trainee in the Community Residential Rehabilitation Services (CRRS) Program.

The CRRS is a residential setting in the community for consumers with chronic psychiatric disabilities. This position assists in developing individual service plans in a residential setting.

You will participate in the planning and implementation of educational and recreational activities in accordance with the individual's plan.

Incumbents assist individuals to learn self-care skills through teaching and role modeling skills based on their individual needs and may include personal hygiene, nutrition, daily living skills, and safety practices.

This role assists individuals in developing skills towards living independently in the community such as problem solving, effective listening, conversational skills, interpersonal skills, good manners, and outcome actions planning.

You will provide direct care by assisting individuals with nutrition cooking, shopping, laundry, housekeeping, and personal hygiene skills.

This role aids residents in community services, family interactions, telephone use, generic services, and public transportation.

The incumbent instructs and assists residents with medication and money management.

You are expected to participate in the intra-disciplinary team meetings to report on residents' progress in meeting services goals and objectives.

This position maintains CRRS files and assists with monthly reports as directed by the Program Supervisor.

You will also complete required individual program plans, assessments, progress records, and medication documentation.

Additional essential duties:
  • Assist in the general upkeep of the CRRS house and property to include the building, physical plant and grounds, fire protection and safety, living and sleeping quarters, furnishings and equipment's, housekeeping and maintenance.
  • Escort individuals safely to daytime and nighttime programming.
  • Attend trainings in the areas of medication, fire safety, first aid, CPR and orientation and any other designated mandatory training or meeting to assure compliance with the Residential Regulations and Program Requirements.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-time employment, 0-28 hours per week, as needed.
  • Shift work may include weekends and holidays
  • On occasion, staff may need to work hours outside of the set work week to complete projects, meet work demands, or in the event of an emergency.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
