Base salary range: $147,649 - $221,900

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves traveling around Marion County to inspect homes and apartments, measure them accurately, and enter the details into a database to help determine property taxes fairly.
It's a hands-on role that requires working independently in the field while following rules and coordinating with property owners and other departments.
A good fit would be someone detail-oriented with basic experience in assessment or data entry, who is organized, communicates well, and is comfortable driving and interacting with the public.
Position is responsible for the inspection, data collection, recording, and analysis of all assigned residential field assessment within Marion County.
Will ensure that all residential field information is accurately measured and input into the property tax database in a timely manner so that it may be used by the Assessment Division and other city and county agencies.
The position requires the knowledge of established laws and IAAO standards, which control most of the actions in this position.
Independent judgment, subject to supervisory oversight, is used when there are no available policies and procedures.
Other duties and tasks are routine in nature and performed under moderate supervision following standard procedures. Incumbent must have a valid driver’s license.
Position reports to District Manager of Residential.

Minimum Job Requirements and Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one (1) year’s prior work-related experience are required.
Applicants must be certified by the DLGF as a Level II Assessor/Appraiser Certification or be willing to earn that certification within 12 months of hiring.
Effective project management, computer, math, geometry, and communication skills are required. Knowledge of imaging systems and other software is required.
Applicants must have the ability to assist customers in a professional and courteous manner, whether it’s face-to-face, by email, or over the telephone.
The position requires attention to detail and candidates must be able to type, create, and edit reports as needed, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
All activities must comply with state law. Bilingual preferred.
