This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Charleston Dorchester Mental Health, Tri County Crisis Stabilization Center 3685 Rivers Ave, Charleston, SC 29405.
Under limited supervision, you will perform duties of registered nurse at Tri County Crisis Stabilization Center to include direct and indirect care of patients and support of the unit functioning. Work closely with other nurses, staff and physician on the unit, other agencies and the community to provide crisis stabilization services to patients.
Responsibilities for the Registered Nurse:- Provide direct nursing services as credentialed to the patients of the CDMHCs and consult with teams regarding medical and nursing issues and perform nursing services which includes but are not limited to nursing assessment, crisis intervention, medication management and monitoring, medication administration and injections.
Provide a full range of nursing care including but not limited to education, identification of obvious symptoms of both physical and mental illness, treatment of symptoms according to Federal, State and Center policies and procedures.
Report urgent and emergent issues to on-call physician and supervisor.
- Function as part of the nursing team and is responsible for medication cart including daily audits to meet state regulatory agency requirement and audits by OMH pharmacy consultant, ordering of medical supplies as needed.
- Assess needs of patients and families and assist in the formulations an implementation of plans of care and evaluation of progress and outcomes. Make referral to high or lower level of care as needed.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team on the overall care and treatment plan and development on the Unit.
- Assist in coordination of patient discharge plan with patient, their family and other agencies. Ensure access to medications upon discharge if applicable.
- Attend all training classified mandatory by Federal and State regulations and Center policy. Complies with all OMH/ CDMHC policies and protocols, applicable Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and Cultural Competence, and CARF policies, procedures and regulations and all Fedeal and State laws.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Licensure as a RN by the SC Board of Nursing or eligible for SC licensure (a nursing license through the SC Board of Nursing must be obtained no later than 30 days of initial hire date).
Additional Requirements- A valid SC driver's license.
- This position is for a 24/7 program. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Position is considered essential and may require reporting for duty in the event of a weather or similar emergency events.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in nursing and three (3) years of experience; or three (3) year diploma and three (3) year experience; or an associate degree in nursing and three (3) years experiences as a Registered Nurse, two (2) years must have been in a community mental program.

Post hire, employees must: - Be willing to work weekends and holidays as needed (position is in a 24/7 program).
- Successfully complete certification in Basic Life support.
- Be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with resources, families and professionals.
- Understand this position is considered essential and may require reporting for duty in the event of weather or similar emergency events.
- Have a serviceable, personal vehicle (expected to use own vehicle frequently for business and will be reimbursed according to applicable State policies and procedures.
