The Broward Addiction Recovery Center (BARC) has been serving Broward County residents since 1973 and, with strong support from the Board of County Commissioners and the community, continues to expand services to meet the needs of adults affected by substance use and co-occurring disorders.
In 2018, BARC opened its flagship “BARC Central,” a 48,900 sq. ft.
LEED Gold Certified facility offering inpatient detoxification and withdrawal management, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), and Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP).
BARC provides a full continuum of care—including detoxification, residential, outpatient, intensive outpatient, and case management services—supported by a multidisciplinary team of medical, clinical, and support staff.

The Registered Nurse Supervisor ensures high-quality patient care and that patient needs are met.
This role oversees nursing and mental health specialist staff, manages schedules, monitors compliance and documentation, coordinates patient services, and provides staff education, all while working independently under limited supervision and reporting major activities through periodic meetings

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Supervises the triage department including patient care, adherence to policies and procedures, updating call back list, assisting with computer problems, reconciling cash revenues and cab bills, direct patient care, being a resource to employees.
Evaluates subordinate's work, identifying areas in need of improvement and writing corrective plans, writing annual performance evaluations, and approving weekly time sheets.
Approves weekly timecards in Kronos.Performs quality assurance including reading and correcting entries, chart audits, medication room inspections, identifying areas for education, writing performance improvement plans and maintaining breathalyzers, automated external defibrillators (AED) and carbon monoxide monitors.
Oversees purchasing of office, patient personal care and medical supplies and ordering all chart forms from the print shop; ensures that adequate supplies are available to staff at all times.
Reviews and revises current policies and procedures and create new ones; presents them to Medical Executive committee for approval; writes reference books for nurses and triage technicians. Educates staff.
Conducts individual supervision with staff ensuring that the nurses provide quality care and best practice; holds nursing staff meetings, provide education and disseminate information from committees.
Monitors medication administration records and medication rooms for compliance and organization; reviews electronic patient medical records for compliance and accuracy; monitors patient medical records for nursing documentation compliance.
Meets and coordinates patient services with the counseling supervisors; completes nursing schedules for three shifts to ensure that the units are safely staffed; reconciles invoices for the lab, pharmacy, taxi company, and temp agencies; supervises and assists the admission process to ensure intakes are completed in a timely manner.
Monitors documentation; reviews charts for completion and accuracy; oversees Infection Control activities on the unit.
Performs related work as assigned.
