Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job is for a registered nurse at a men's correctional facility in Iowa, where you'll provide healthcare to incarcerated individuals, manage treatments, and ensure a safe environment while helping them prepare for release through health services.
It involves shift work including evenings, nights, and weekends, with a focus on ethical nursing practices and teamwork.
A good fit would be a compassionate, organized nurse with experience in patient care who thrives in a structured, high-integrity setting.
This position is eligible for a $3,000 recruitment bonus. Current state employees are not eligible for recruitment payments upon transfer, demotion, or promotion to another agency.
The Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility is a minimum custody, male facility that houses approximately 1150 incarcerated individuals.
Our goal is to offer treatment, work, education and apprenticeship opportunities in order to prepare them for their entry back into the neighborhoods of Iowa.
Shifts available: 1) Primary PM Shift - 3:30PM-11:30PM Can provide relief on night shift - 11PM-9AM Weekend/Holiday rotation and days off as assigned 2) Full time PM shift - Weekend/Holiday rotation and days off as assigned 3) Full time Night shift 11PM-9AM - Weekend/Holiday rotation and days off as assigned The registered nurse demonstrates high integrity, nursing values, ethical principles and moral practices.
The registered nurse must practice professional nursing consistent and within scope of the Iowa Board of Nursing Practice Act.
The registered nurse has a current nursing license in good standing from the Iowa Board of Nursing.
As the staff nurse, your organizational leadership and management of resources enables staff, patients, and the community to promote the Department's Mission to Create Opportunities for Safe Communities by: Managing client health care to ensure a safe and secure environment for both clients and staff while promoting positive change in client behavior.
Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice. Knowledge of current medications, their actions and uses. Knowledge of quality standards, procedures, and protocols.
Knowledge of specialized client care applicable to the work situation. Ability to teach and oversee client care provided by assistive staff.
Ability to provide empathetic assistance to clients in meeting their needs and carrying out prescribed treatments. Ability to collect data objectively and record information accurately.
