This job involves working as a registered nurse in a public health clinic in El Paso, Texas, where you'll assess patients, provide care, educate the community on health topics, and help run vaccination or screening programs.

Education and Experience: Registered Nurse.
Licenses and Certificates: Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas by the State Board of Nurse Examiners or equivalent from a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
Under general supervision, assist in providing community health nursing services in a public health clinic or nursing program.
Conduct comprehensive physical assessments of adults, children and adolescents to determine general health status, life style health risk or disease processes and report to nurse supervisor or physician.
Involves: Obtain and record patient's medical history, immunization status, height, weight, and other information in accordance to protocol. Assess and record physical, social and emotional needs.
Dispenses prescription and non-prescription drugs as authorized. Sterilize equipment and supplies for use in examinations. Maintain records and prepare oral and written reports, using a computer.
Schedule patient appointment and make home visits to obtain and provide patient information and increase quality of service.
Interface with computer regarding data input and retrieval for patient records, statistics and clinic activities.
Instruct the public, staff and other groups on topics such as health education and assist in developing health improvement programs in cooperation with senior professional staff.
Provide nursing care under medical standing delegation orders within the County of El Paso. Involves: Coordinate with staffing companies to deliver nursing care.
Assist mass vaccination clinics and/or screening clinics. Assist in coordinating clinic outreach programs.
Participate in the development and implementation of strategies and tools that reflect setting up and running clinics.
Identify opportunities to improve on standards or guidelines of patient care in a clinical setting. Provide consultation to health care providers, and works to improve community preparedness.
Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs.
Perform administrative functions as required. Involves: Assist in setting priorities, policies and procedures to efficiently and effectively accomplish department's objectives.
Process complex forms requiring verification of accuracy and completeness, such as applications, patient records, permits and insurance reimbursement. Perform complex word processing procedures.
Perform and checks arithmetic calculations, codes, numbers, forms, records and compiles information for reports.
Supervise assigned staff. Involves: schedule, assign, instruct, guide and check work. Appraise employee performance. Provide for training and development.
Enforce personnel rules and regulations and work behavior standards firmly and impartially. Counsel, motivate and maintain harmony.
Recommend hiring, termination, transfers, discipline, merit pay or other employee status changes.
