Job Description
Summary
This job involves providing hands-on nursing care to veterans in a state home, including giving medications, performing treatments, assessing patient needs, and planning their long-term care.
It also requires overseeing and guiding licensed practical nurses and other caregivers.
A good fit would be a licensed registered nurse who enjoys working with older adults or veterans and is comfortable in a team environment focused on compassionate, ongoing care.
Key Requirements
- Possession of a diploma, associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree in nursing accepted for licensure by the Michigan Board of Nursing
- Possession of a Michigan license in good standing as a registered nurse
- Ability to provide direct care including medication administration and treatments
- Skills in conducting comprehensive assessments of patient needs
- Experience or ability to coordinate long-term care planning for a caseload
- Capability to monitor and direct LPNs and caregivers in delegated tasks
- Subject to random drug and alcohol testing as a test-designated position
