The Department of Transportation is seeking a Regional Traffic Management Center Operator to support its 24/7 operations within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
In this role, you will help monitor traffic conditions, coordinate incident response, and ensure timely communication with field crews, emergency responders, and the traveling public.

In this role, you will support the operation of the Western Regional Traffic Management Center and its Advanced Traffic Management Software (ATMS) to help manage traffic conditions along the region’s Interstate and Expressway network.
You will use a network of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras and traffic detection sensors to identify and assess both recurring and unexpected traffic issues that may affect freeway operations.
You will also operate CCTV systems and automated HOV controls, detection equipment, and signage to properly manage the daily opening and closing of the I-279/I-579 HOV Lane.
Another key responsibility includes gathering and distributing real-time traffic information to the traveling public through Variable Message Signs and recorded messages on the Highway Advisory Radio System.
Additionally, you will coordinate with the Pennsylvania State Police to dispatch Freeway Service Patrol vehicles during their operating hours to assist with incidents and keep traffic moving safely.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 1 day per week after successfully completing one year in the position.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bridgeville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
