Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).

Job Description

Summary

This job involves inspecting and investigating operations at Navy installations in Japan to spot issues like fraud, waste, and mismanagement, while analyzing data and preparing unbiased reports.

It also includes guiding staff on internal controls and handling complaints about ethics or security problems.

A good fit would be someone with investigative experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a structured military environment, especially if comfortable with overseas assignments where medical access is limited.

You will serve as a REGION INSPECTOR/INVESTIGATOR ofCOMMANDER, NAVAL REGION JAPAN . ***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED.

Please see Additional Information section below.*** Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing: 1.

Experience researching regulations and interpreting applicability to a situation or complaint. 2.

Experience conducting inspections and formulating and reviewing reports to ensure they are accurate, complete, and impartial. 3.

Experience reviewing and analyzing large amount of information, data, inspection or investigation related material and other records to formulate a recommendation or provide advice. 4.

Experience applying knowledge of professional investigative standards as applied to complex investigations of fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement administrative inquiries. 5.

Experience in applying knowledge of MS Office software. 6. Experience planning, organizing, and coordinating with staff in order to perform investigations, inspections, reviews, and audits.

  • You will perform inspections, reviews, studies, analyses and evaluations of region and installation operations.
  • You will proactively identify high risk, vulnerable areas for inspection and ensure inspections are scheduled providing situational awareness.
  • You will conduct exit conferences with management officials to discuss inspection results and clarify any points of disagreement after completion of inspection.
  • You will support the Region Managers' Internal Control Program (MICP) program by providing guidance or training to installation staff in performing management control reviews and risk assessments.
  • You will analyze complaints involving alleged fraud, waste, acquisition and procurement irregularities, mismanagement, security violations, environmental concerns and ethics violations.
