About the Position: This position is located in the Naval Health Clinic Patuxent River.

The incumbent will serve as a Referral Management Coordinator who will work under Director of Executive Quality Management.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) assisting coordinating patient referrals with healthcare providers, 2) resolving military or civilian personnel insurance enrollment issues with TRICARE Operations or similar system and 3) performing care coordination activities based on personal, E-mail, or telephone inquiries, 4) experience utilizing Electronic Health Record (EHR ) database or similar program, OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Health Care Administration, Health Care Management, Public Health, Business Administration or similar field of study.

OR Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18.

Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Major Duties:

  • Maintain suspense database for contacting civilian healthcare professionals.
  • Oversee consult tracking for all insurance beneficiaries through the entire cycle.
  • Develop an electronic directory of healthcare resources for all beneficiaries programs.
  • Educate staff, healthcare professionals and beneficiaries on the consult tracking procedures.
  • Resolve enrollment issues with appropriate personnel.
  • Notify staff of items requiring urgent attention for best healthcare outcomes.
  • Gather information to coordinate care.
