Inclusion services serve people who are disabled that may request an accommodation to participate in activities across Portland Parks locations. This can include hidden (ADHD, autism, anxiety/depression, etc.) or visible (uses wheelchair, walkers, crutches, etc.) disabilities.
Programs have different schedules for assignment:
Pre-School (6 hours a day Monday-Friday; with 3–5 year-olds)
SUN Schools/Afterschool Programs (2.5-3.5 hours in the afternoons between 3-6pm Monday-Friday; with youth)
Classes (could meet once a week for 5 weeks, etc.; with all ages)
Events/Trips (single day activities; often with adults)
Day Camps (Winter Break or Spring Break is 8 hours a day; Summer Camps are typically 6-8 hours a day Monday-Friday; with youth).
As part of Inclusion Services, the Inclusion Assistant will directly support one or two individuals to provide assistance to participants of all ages with physical, developmental and/or emotional disabilities as they integrate into general recreation programs.
Duties include adapting activities, maintaining a safe environment, and promoting a participant’s success in programs.
Inclusion assistants must have clear communication with families/caregivers, Community Center staff and Inclusion services coordinator.
Recreation programs include various locations across Portland. Candidates may need to be able to travel and work at various locations throughout Portland Parks and Recreation.

Inclusion Assistants (Must be at least 18 years old)
Pay Range (new employees start at the entry hourly rate):
Inclusion Assistant base pay is $19.04-$22.21 (entry is $19.04)
Inclusion Assistant premium pay is $21.04-$22.04 (entry is $21.04 or $22.04 based on experience)
Premium will be applied to all hours worked as an inclusion assistant working directly with participants.
The premium pay range listed includes the premium.
Training Pay:
Inclusion Assistant training pay is $19.04 for all positions.
