Job Description

Summary

This job involves helping run outdoor recreation programs for the U.S.

Army community in Germany, including planning and leading activities like hiking, skiing, camping, and biking trips, as well as driving groups in a van.

It's a great fit for someone energetic with hands-on experience in outdoor adventures who enjoys organizing events and teaching others safely.

Knowledge of German and winter sports certification would make you stand out.

Key Requirements

  • One year of experience in an outdoor recreation program involving activities like skiing, camping, canoeing, rock climbing, hiking, or biking
  • OR a bachelor's degree with a major in recreation or physical education, or at least 24 semester hours in related courses
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and implement outdoor activities and trips
  • Skills in instructing customers on proper use of equipment and programs
  • Experience helping with special events, social activities, and tournaments
  • Valid driver's license and ability to transport groups using a 15-passenger van
  • Highly preferred: Ability to speak, read, and communicate in German

Full Job Description

This position is located at USAG Rheinland-Pfalz - MWR, Pulaski Outdoor Recreation Program. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: One (1) year experience within an Outdoor Recreation program that offers some of the following activities and trips: skiing, camping, canoeing, rock climbing, hiking and biking.

OR Four (4) year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in courses related to recreation or physical education.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": 1.

Ability to speak, read and communicate in German. 2. Ski or Snowboard Instructor Certification and skills to teach safely in winter programs. *Certification must be uploaded with application* 3.

Experience with outdoor recreation programs including hunting, fishing, safety rules, equipment use and regulation.

Applicant meeting the Best Qualifying Criteria/Highly Preferred will be referred to the hiring manager. All other qualified applicants will be referred if requested by the hiring manager.

  • Serves as a Recreation Assistant in support of a recreational activity applying a practical knowledge of recreational activities and skills in the use of recreation equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in the planning/establishing of objectives and goals for the facility. Instruct customers in the proper use of equipment and programs within area of responsibility.
  • Plans, schedules, organizes and implements outdoor activities and trips such as, but not limited to skiing, hiking, biking, canoeing, camping, trips, parks, mountain climbing and overnight recreational trips.
  • Helps plan, conduct, publicize, and arrange support for a variety of sponsored special events, social activities, tournaments and related functions.
  • Transports large groups of people on trips to locations throughout the installation using a fifteen passenger van.
