Summary

This job is for a lead lifeguard at a military base pool, where you'll supervise other lifeguards, enforce safety rules, perform rescues and first aid, and help run swimming programs.

Key Requirements

  • Current Lifeguarding and First Aid certification from American Red Cross or equivalent (e.g., Star Guard, YMCA, ELLIS)
  • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or American Heart Association equivalent
  • Experience in lifeguarding, including rescues and administering first aid
  • Ability to supervise and oversee other lifeguards and ensure compliance with policies
  • Knowledge of pool operations, including water testing, scheduling, and maintaining clean facilities
  • Skills in enforcing safety rules, warning patrons, and conducting swimming or water survival training
  • Willingness to attend aquatics and safety training as required

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS).

American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional. CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED).

Assumptions will not be made regarding your experience and the duties performed ** Major Duties:

  • Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules and follow facility Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions. Assists with scheduling of employees, the operation of the pool, and performs water tests.
  • Assist in coaching or preparing the competitive and non-competitive swimming programs as required. Assist with the operation of the pool, oversees the work of assigned lifeguards and monitors compliance with facility policies.
  • Under direction of the pool supervisor, employ safety rules for the protection of the guest. Responsible for life guarding guest in attendance at the assigned aquatic facility. Issues towels and checks identification as required.
  • Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to tC21-21. Maintains daily logs and records as required.
  • Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Ensures maintaining pool and area is clean and free from any hazards. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
