About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation (Outdoor Pool) on Holloman AFB, NM.

The incumbent will work days and evenings, Monday through Sunday. This position is a Flexible position (0 Guaranteed Hours). Military Spouse Preference is not lost if selected for this position.

This is a temporary position, Not to Exceed 30-SEP-2026.

The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is US Citizens and legal US residents within a 100-mile radius of Holloman AFB, New Mexico.

Qualifying Experience: Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training.

Experience which provides practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. Major Duties:

The primary purpose of this position is to observe swimming areas to ensure safety of patrons at the Outdoor Pool on Holloman AFB.

The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons.

Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area.

Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed.

Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough water or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail.

When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards.

Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made.

May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc.

Provide day-to-day advice and guidance to employees for work assignments. Relay instructions from ODR Director for work assignments Ensures that worksite materials and tools are available.

Ensures employees are following security and safety rules. Reports all safety violations to ODR Director. Enforces established operating policies and procedures.

Ensures the safe operation of the pool, it's filtration system, water balance, chemistry and performs water tests. Performs other related duties as assigned.
