Full Job Description

This position is located within Morale, Welfare and Recreation Departments, Bowling Center, onboard Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, TX.

The purpose of this position is to serve as the counter control operator.

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered.

Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Knowledge of the goals, philosophy, principles, and methods of procedures used in organizing, planning, administrating and conducting facility operations.

Knowledge of State and Federal Guidelines concerning Marina Operations. Knowledge of the daily operations of the facility to be able to answers questions from patrons.

Knowledge of the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs for recreation or marina operations.

Knowledge of recreational activities and equipment, rules and procedures in a recreation program activity.

Knowledge of boating terminology, watercraft operation and maintenance, water and boating safety, handling of boats (e.g., launching, mooring, etc.), boating equipment and facilities, and recreational boating activities.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Ability to follow instructions, present options and recommend solutions.

Ability to work independently, demonstrate excellent customer service techniques and make sound decisions. Ability to effectively operate office machines to include cash registers and computers.

Ability to operate a personal computer and perform basic word processing and spreadsheet tasks using Microsoft and site-specific software. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Must have 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Major Duties:

General (Duties include but are not limited to): The incumbent is responsible for the counter control operations of the Bowling Center, which included the collecting and accounting for all cash and maintains daily records as required.

Controls the facility for the use of authorized patrons. Responsible for bowling resale, shoe rental, billiard room, league bowling, control of waiting list and collection of all fees and charges.

May be responsible for keeping bulletin boards up to date with league notices and other promotional materials pertaining to the Bowling Lanes and Recreational Services Activities.

Keeps bowlers informed of all specials and league events. Handles customer phone inquiries and also those of new patrons. Keeps mechanic informed of any stoppages or failures on related equipment.

Ensures the counter control area is kept in a neat and orderly manner at all times. May perform other duties as assigned.
