Summary

This entry-level job trains you to become a lifeguard at a military pool in Honolulu, Hawaii, starting with mandatory certification classes in June 2026.

Full Job Description

This position is located at Aliamanu Pool in Honolulu, HI, on the Island of Oahu.

Mandatory Lifeguard Certification Training is scheduled from June 1 to June 5, 2026, and will be held at Richardson Pool, Schofield Barracks. Incentives and Bonuses : Incentives will not be paid.

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

Minimum Requirement Qualifications Must be able to swim and participate in the lifeguard certifications. Major Duties:

  • This is a training position for a certified Lifeguard. Works under close supervision wherein the work is closely reviewed/monitored and detailed guidance provided.
  • Must participate in all required training (emergency rescue drills, emergency action plan simulations). Mandatory certifications must be complete within 30 calendar days of employment.
  • Upon completion of mandatory certifications, the incumbent will be noncompetitively reassigned to Recreation Aid (Lifeguard}, PD #3206, responsible for lifeguarding guest in attendance at an assigned aquatic facility.
  • Training: Lifeguarding and First Aid; American Red Cross CPR for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); First Aid.
  • For facilities that use Oxygen Administration "02 bottles" the 02 Administration certification (American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration or installation offered training (i.e. Fire Dept.) must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty.
