Job Description

Summary

This job is for a lifeguard at a pool on a military base in Hawaii, where you'll watch over swimmers, enforce safety rules, and respond to emergencies by performing rescues and first aid.

You'll also help with swim lessons and keep the pool area clean and safe. It's a great fit for someone who is a strong swimmer, enjoys working with people, and has basic lifeguarding certifications.

Key Requirements

  • Current Lifeguarding and First Aid certification from American Red Cross or equivalent (e.g., Star Guard, YMCA, ELLIS)
  • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or American Heart Association equivalent
  • Ability to provide maximum surveillance of pool areas and respond to emergencies
  • Knowledge of safety rules and procedures for pool guests
  • Assistance in conducting swim lessons and water survival training per ATP 7-22.01
  • Perform water tests and maintain clean, hazard-free pool areas
  • Adherence to customer service standards and attendance at required training

Full Job Description

This position is located at Richardson Pool, Schofield Barracks Hawaii, on the Island of Oahu. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS).

American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); First Aid.

Major Duties:

  • Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager. Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.
  • Responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility. Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.
  • Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020 and assisting with American Red Cross swim lessons as an Aide.
  • Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Adheres to Customer Service standards of the Installation. Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards.
  • Performs periodic water tests and reports results to the pool leader on duty. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety/health/admission rules and procedures.
