Job Description

Summary

This job is for a lifeguard at a military base pool in Texas, where you'll watch over swimmers, open and close the facility, and respond to emergencies using rescue skills.

It involves working weekends and holidays while providing friendly customer service to visitors.

A good fit would be someone reliable, physically fit, and passionate about safety in water environments, with prior lifeguarding experience.

Key Requirements

  • Lifeguarding and First Aid certification from American Red Cross or equivalent (e.g., Star Guard, YMCA, ELLIS)
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association equivalent
  • Obtain Oxygen Administration certification within two weeks of starting if required by the facility
  • Ability to swim regularly and practice rescue skills, first aid, and CPR
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and arrive on time in proper uniform
  • Professional demeanor and excellent customer service skills
  • Attend all required training and in-service meetings on time

This position is located at Aquatics Training Center and Replica Pool.

A qualified candidate must possess and maintain the following certifications: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS).

American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional. CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED).

First Aid In addition, for facilities that use Oxygen Administration "O2 bottles" the O2 Administration certification (American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration" or installation offered training (i.e.

Fire Dept.) must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty.

NOTE: The above minimum qualifications must be described within the duties of previous work experience listed on the applicant's resume and/or supporting documents.

A copy of all documents must be submitted at the time of application. Major Duties:

  • Open and close the facility, including working weekends and holidays to meet business needs.
  • Attend all training and in-service meetings and complete annual requirements in a timely manner.
  • Swim regularly and practice rescue skills, first aid, and CPR.
  • Arrive for work on time and in the proper Fort Bliss MWR uniform.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and model excellent customer service for patrons and personnel.
