Job Description

Summary

This job is for a lifeguard at the pools on a U.S. Army base in Arizona, where you'll watch over swimmers, enforce safety rules, and keep the area clean and hazard-free.

You'll also help with water testing, coaching swim programs, and handling any issues with guests who break the rules.

It's a great fit for someone who enjoys working outdoors or indoors with people, has strong swimming skills, and is good at staying calm in emergencies.

Key Requirements

  • Current Lifeguarding certification from American Red Cross or equivalent (e.g., Star Guard, YMCA, ELLIS)
  • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or American Heart Association equivalent
  • First Aid certification
  • Ability to enforce safety rules and warn patrons tactfully
  • Skills in maintaining pool cleanliness and performing water tests
  • Experience assisting with swimming programs or coaching

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e.

Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS); American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); First Aid.

Certification must be uploaded with your application packet! Major Duties:

  • Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager. Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.

  • Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards. Performs periodic water tests and reports results to the pool leader on duty.
  • Provides information to swimmers regarding safety/health/admission rules and procedures. Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules, and follows facility Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions.
  • Assists in coaching or preparing the competitive and non-competitive swimming programs as required. Maintains daily logs, reports and records as required. Other duties as assigned.
