Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a lifeguard at pools on a U.S.

Army base in South Korea, where you'll watch over swimmers, enforce safety rules, and respond to emergencies by performing rescues and first aid.

You'll also help with swimming lessons and keep the pool area clean and safe. It's a good fit for someone who enjoys working with people, stays calm under pressure, and has experience in water safety.

Key Requirements

  • Possess and maintain Lifeguarding and First Aid certification from American Red Cross or equivalent (e.g., Star Guard, YMCA, ELLIS)
  • Hold American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (e.g., American Heart Association CPR/AED)
  • For water parks: Waterpark Lifeguarding and First Aid certification from American Red Cross
  • Ability to provide maximum surveillance of pool areas and respond to emergencies, including rescues and first aid
  • Assist in conducting aquatic swimming, water survival training (per ATP 7-22.01), and American Red Cross swim lessons as an aide
  • Attend required aquatics and safety training and adhere to customer service standards
  • Perform water tests, maintain pool cleanliness, and enforce safety, health, and admission rules

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Possesses and maintains the following certifications: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e.

Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS); American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); First Aid.

For Water Parks upgrade the certification to: 'Waterpark Lifeguarding and First Aid; CPR/PR/AED' (American Red Cross) Major Duties:

  • Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager. Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.
  • Responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility. Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.
  • Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020 and assisting with American Red Cross swim lessons as an Aide.
  • Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Adheres to Customer Service standards of the Installation. Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards.
  • Performs periodic water tests and reports results to the pool leader on duty. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety/health/admission rules and procedures.
