About the position:: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Pools at the Aquatics Center on Edwards Air Force Base. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: Must have experience that provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules, and procedures; skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is highly desirable.
Must be able to maintain good standings with American Red Cross (or other nationally recognized) Certification and stay current with no break in certificates. Must be at least 16 years of age.
Must be able to pass basic swim test administered by lifeguard instruction of Edwards AFB staff or other qualified ODR staff member.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Major Duties:
Continuously and vigilantly observes swimming areas and surroundings to ensure water safety rules and pool regulations are observed by all patrons, utilizing a good knowledge of all aspects of water safety.
Coordinates the opening and closing of the swimming areas to authorized patrons at appropriate times. Ensures only authorized patrons to utilize the facilities.
Performs proper skills and training to rescue distressed patrons, and promptly administers the appropriate first aid and emergency medical procedures.
Notifies swimmers and leadership of unsafe environments or health conditions and provides appropriate recommendations (i.e. closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail).
Inspects all equipment daily for malfunctions and confirms that all necessary repairs are made.
Responsible for the cleanliness of swimming pools, locker rooms, dressing areas, shower rooms, latrines, etc.
May be responsible for completing and recording preventative maintenance and cleaning IAW all Air Force and other regulations (i.e. water temperature checks, chemical checks, etc.).
May be required to assist swim instructors. Performs all other related and/or incidental duties as assigned.
