This job is for a lifeguard at a military base pool in South Carolina, where you'll watch swimmers to keep everyone safe, perform rescues and first aid if needed, and help maintain the pool area.

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Shaw Woodland Pool. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: For pool and aquatic center lifeguards: Be able to obtain and maintain an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training.
Have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable.
Satisfactory complete a pre-employment physical. Be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
Satisfactory completion of installation records checks, state and national criminal background checks may be required for positions that provide lifesaving duties for children.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Major Duties:
Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorizes persons are admitted to the area.
Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed.
Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail.
When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards.
Ensures rock wall and water slide are inspected frequently and that necessary repairs are made.
May perform other related or incidental duties assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, conduct swim lessons, etc.
