This job is for a lifeguard at a marina's outdoor recreation area on an Air Force base in Florida, where you'll watch over swimmers, enforce safety rules, and keep the pool area clean and safe.

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Marina at Outdoor Recreation. This is a Standing Register and will be open until all positions are filled.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: For pool and aquatic center lifeguards: Have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment.
Water Safety Instructor Certificate is highly desirable.
Have Lifeguarding (including deep water) with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Certifications or equivalent.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Major Duties:
Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area.
Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance when needed.
Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, through water or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail.
When working at pools, may operate water pumps, conduct hourly water chemical evaluations and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards.
Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and necessary repairs are made.
May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool deck, and sunbathing areas, etc.
Will work under the direct supervision of the Outdoor Recreation Manager/ Director, Supervisory Recreation Assistant and/or Lead Lifeguard.
