About the position: Assigned to the Langley Bowling Center at Langley AFB, VA. Flexible position guaranteed 0 hours per week but can be scheduled for up to 40 hours per week.

Position is a growth position to PSN 70151 Recreation Assistant, NF-0189-02. Incumbent will be noncompetitively promoted upon successful completion of 6 months at this level.

Applicants qualified at the NF-0189-02 level will be referred first. Pay will be set based on experience: NF-0189-01: $15.00 NF-0189-02: $16.50 Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: RECREATION AID, NF-0189-01: No experience required Practical knowledge of recreational activities, rules, and procedures. Math proficiency is highly desirable.

Ability to safeguard and handle cash and skill in the use and maintenance of various recreational equipment and facilities are desirable RECREATION ASSISTANT, NF-0189-02: Experience which provides a basic knowledge and understanding of bowling center operations including the rules related to bowling and organization of leagues and tournaments.

Knowledge of bowling machinery and equipment and bowling lane care.

Experience in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit or other processing of cash items when this includes direct handling of cash items, and use of cash accountability control methods.

Ability to communicate both orally and in writing and possess skill in dealing with the public. Prior experience in basic supply techniques is desirable. Major Duties:

RECREATION AID, NF-0189-01: Responsible for manning the customer service desk within the bowling center. Assigns lanes to be used, operates control console, rents shoes and sells items in the pro shop.

Assists with conducting inventories of pro shop items may be required to assist with snack bar inventory resale items, facility equipment and other supply items.

Informs supervisor of equipment malfunctions as well as other items needing maintenance or repair. Assists Recreation Assistant and/or Manager with league activities.

Assists with ensuring activities are properly scheduled, facilities are set up and rules and regulations are observed. Sells Pour Cards for beer wall.

RECREATION ASSISTANT, NF-0189-02: Assigns lanes to be used, operates control console, rents shoes and sells items in the pro shop.

Conducts inventories of pro shop items may be required to inventory snack bar resale items, facility equipment and other supply items.

Demonstrates and instructs participants on the proper use of equipment and provides guidance and instruction on bowling techniques.

Informs supervisor of equipment malfunctions as well as other items needing maintenance or repair.

May supervise, lead, oversee and/or coordinate daily activities of other employees engaged in the performance of their duties.

Assists in advertising and recruiting participants for leagues, tournaments, special events and open play activities.

May be required to schedule and administer these activities in the capacity of league secretary or tournament director.

Ensures activities are properly scheduled, facilities are set up and rules and regulations are observed. Open and closes the bowling facility as required. Sells Pour Cards for beer wall.
