THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a RANGE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D2799000 and is part of the PA Training Center, National Guard.

1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement. Indefinite W/ Rollover Position may lead to permanent assignment without further advertisement.

APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Bargaining Position AOC 1: NG Employees at the Training Center AOC 2: NG employees in the Training Center AOC 3: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard AOC 4: All service members of the Pennsylvania National Guard (This includes M-Day Soldiers, Temporary Technicians and AGR Personnel) AOC 5: Individuals who are currently serving in another branch of service who are willing to become members of the PANG TEMPORARY PROMOTION/REASSIGNMENT: Currently employed permanent technician selected will occupy this position as a Promotion not to exceed or Reassignment as appropriate in their present status.

INDEFINITE: Indefinite employment status pertains to applicant nominated, who are not a currently employed permanent technician.

Indefinite appointments may acquire permanent status depending upon future force structure requirements; indefinite appointments do not serve a trial period.

Indefinite appointments may be separated when their services are no longer needed or when funding is no longer available via a 30-day termination notice.

Military Grades: ENLISTED E1-E7 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration.

Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must have at least 12 months experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or laws.

Experience that provided a working knowledge of administrative functions. Experience demonstrating the ability to advise lower graded employees.

Experience working independently and setting priorities with very little supervisory control. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying.

Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed.

The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

SPECIAL NOTE: Per the Merit Promotion and Placement Plan (MPP) if there are more than 15 qualified applicants for each position, by category, a KSA board will be convened in accordance with Chapter 4 of the MPP.

Major Duties:

As a RANGE OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN, GS-0303-07, you will serve as a point of contact for information regarding training center range operations.

Ensure that supporting generators and equipment are operational. Conduct range, training land, and facility inspections to identify unsafe conditions.

May be required to maintain rosters of personnel with approved or pending security clearances. Perform other duties as assigned.
