About the Position: The Madigan Army Medical Center, located on Joint Base Lewis-McChord just outside Lakewood, Washington, is a key component of the Madigan Healthcare System and one of the largest military hospitals on the West Coast of the United States.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes: receiving 911 emergency calls such as fire, police, and medical services and respond using appropriate emergency dispatching or communication equipment to assign the information to the proper unit.

Management prefers incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Customer Service Decision Making Flexibility Integrity/Honesty Interpersonal Skills Learning Reading Comprehension Self-Management Stress Tolerance Teamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Major Duties:

  • Receive 911 emergency calls.
  • Identify level of response required.
  • Monitor status and availability of police, fire and medical field units
  • Relay incoming base report contacts from the field units to the ED staff doctors.
  • Operate Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) system, radios and station alerting systems.
