This job involves helping psychologists by giving tests to veterans to check their mental health and brain function, especially in a team that focuses on brain-related issues.
It requires working closely with patients who might get upset, keeping detailed records, and staying organized with files.

The Psychology Technician provides psychometrist (i.e., psychological assessment administration/scoring) services for Psychologists across Psychology Service but is primarily assigned within the Neuropsychology Consultation Team and is located in Cleveland OH.
QUALIFICATIONS To apply for this position, you must have the following qualifications: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in Federal Service that includes performing the following duties: Works with subjects who may become hostile or distressed.; Conducts structured interviews and administering standard tests of intelligence and achievement.; Maintains active record and log of patients referred for assessment and other clinical activities.; Maintains an organized filing system of patient data in accordance with procedural regulations and ethical policies.

We will not make assumptions regarding experience.) -OR- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): I have successfully completed two (2) years of graduate education or a master's degree.
-OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): I have equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate-level education (beyond 18 semester hours) and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level.
The education portion must include graduate courses directly related to the work of this position.
You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Communication Manages and Organizes Information Psychological Assessment Psychology IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: The incumbent must be able to move expeditiously from place to place in the medical center.
Patients must regularly be assisted and supported when they are brought for examination. BLS training is required.
Testing administration requires abilities to communicate orally and in writing with patients and requires basic manual dexterity in manipulation of testing equipment and stimuli.
The incumbent must be able to sit and attend intensively to Veteran behavior over a several hours period.
Finally, the position may involve prolonged exposures to people with primary or secondary viral and other infections, with protective precautions implemented upon identification.

Major Duties:
***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include but may not be limited to: Performs psychological and neuropsychological testing protocols with inpatients and outpatients.
Develops and implements practical strategies for the accurate completion of measures. Completes clinical reminders and documents results in the medical record.
Monitors the trainees for consistency of administration of tests and procedures.
Maintains a psychological test protocol and equipment inventory control process, for timely ordering of critical evaluation supplies.
