About the Position: Provides paraprofessional and technical assistance to licensed behavioral health providers to support direct patient care and clinical operations.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education or experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Interviewing patients to obtain medical history; 2) Analyzing patient information, 3) Providing administrative and technical support in a Mental Health Clinic; and 4) Providing group and/or individual practical counseling.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as social work, or counseling.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9.

Add the two percentages. Major Duties:

  • Conduct structured clinical interviews, standardized assessments, and symptom inventories under provider direction.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational and skills-based groups and therapeutic activities aligned with individualized treatment plans.
  • Support crisis intervention efforts through suicide risk monitoring, safety checks, and de-escalation techniques.
  • Administer and score psychological assessments.
  • Track adherence to therapy, medication, and prescribed regimens to promote continuity and effectiveness of treatment.
  • Prepare treatment updates, case summaries, and progress reports for review by licensed providers.
  • Maintain safe patient care environments by monitoring for hazards and reporting deficiencies.
