Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading the design phase of various public infrastructure projects like roads, stormwater systems, and traffic improvements in Marion County, ensuring everything stays on time and within budget while following all rules.

A good fit would be someone with engineering experience who enjoys coordinating teams, solving problems, and handling both technical details and people interactions in a government setting.

Key Requirements

  • Technical degree or certification in a relevant field, or at least 5 years of related work experience
  • Extensive knowledge of City, State, and FHWA policies and specifications for infrastructure construction
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Indiana (preferred but not required)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to manage design, scheduling, and planning for transportation, environmental, traffic, and stormwater projects
  • Ensure projects meet schedules, budgets, statutes, ordinances, and contract requirements

Full Job Description

Position responsible for overseeing projects in the design management section and providing technical engineering assistance related to design management activities for transportation, environmental, traffic and stormwater projects throughout Marion County.

Requirements

Design management of local, federal, multi-modal, transportation, structural, and stormwater projects.
Design specification and plan interpretation, scheduling, and planning related to infrastructure projects.
Ensures that all design management activity is performed on schedule, within budgetary limits, and in accordance with current statutes, ordinances, specifications and contract requirements.

Qualifications

Technical degree/certification or five plus (5+) years of related work experience required. Possession of Professional Engineer license in the state of Indiana is preferred, but not required. The position requires extensive knowledge of City, State, and FHWA policies and specifications as they relate to construction of City infrastructure. The position requires excellent oral and written skills in addition to excellent conflict resolution skills.
