New employees to the State will be paid biweekly. There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year.

About the Work Unit

The Data & Technology Services unit is responsible for overseeing and managing the Colorado Department of Transportation’s (CDOT’s) data.

This includes facilitating a more nimble, efficient, and effective data architecture through the creation and management of datasets for reporting and analysis purposes.


About the Position

As the ODM Project Coordinator, you will coordinate data projects related to the CDOT Central Data Library and the CDOT data lake.

Specifically, you will be responsible for managing data request projects and the project backlog.

You will act as a liaison between the data request development team and various organizational business analysts, subject matter experts, and Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) development teams to ensure project success.


Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following

  • Develop schedules for data request projects.
  • Coordinate among various organizational units in CDOT to understand their project priorities and communicate realistic timeline expectations related to the data request project and impacts to their project plan.
  • Manage the project backlog using Microsoft DevOps. Coordinate discussions on project prioritization and resource availability.
  • Provide communications on project schedules and progress to the stakeholders and team members according to the project’s communication plans.
  • Ensure that project progress is documented accurately according to the methodology chosen for the project, e.g., waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Manage documentation of project milestones, including creating work items, tracking status, following up with project team members, keeping documentation of communications and changes, etc.
  • Assist stakeholders with ways to collect and report data to show project progress for schedule milestones.
  • Manage project queue. Work with the Agency Data Manager to ensure that project prioritization is aligned with data initiatives.
  • Act as main point of contact for stakeholders, providing updates and managing expectations.
  • Ensure timely communication regarding any project changes or modifications.
  • Work with Agency Data Manager to evaluate whether deliverables are timely and meet agreed-upon quality standards and project requirements.
  • Coordinate with implementation team members to ensure tasks are complete and aligned with project requirements.
  • Work with the data request team to incorporate updated data management guidance requirements in the project process.
  • Document issues regarding project goals or success.
  • Develop recommendations to address obstacles to achieving the project goal.
  • Work with data request projects team to standardize the intake and execution of data projects.
  • Recommend the type of project methodology that would best fit the project based on the requirements and resource availability.
  • Define a systematic approach to measure and evaluate project team’s productivity and capacity based on historical performance.
  • Provide ideas and recommendations on ways to realize efficiencies and make improvements to the project process.
  • Other job duties as assigned.


Work Environment

  • Your schedule will primarily be 8:00 am – 5:00 pm work hours, Monday-Friday, but we are flexible to meet your work/life balance needs while ensuring CDOT business needs are met.
  • You will likely work a hybrid schedule with a combination of in-office and remote work.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Experience Only:

  • At least 6 years of experience in project management, data management, information technology, business analysis, or other experience closely related to the duties of this position.
    • This must include at least 2 years of experience with a primary focus on projects that involve data integration and data management.

OR

Education and Experience:

  • A combination of relevant education and experience equal to at least 6 years.
  • Education from an accredited college or university with coursework in project management, data science/management, information science/technology, computer science/engineering, business administration, or another field of study related to the duties of this position will be considered.
  • Experience with a primary focus on projects that involve data integration and data management will be considered.
