The Caregiver Support Program (CSP) is one of the Veterans Health Administration's (VHA) most rapidly growing service areas, as a result of infrastructure modernization, programming innovation, and expansion of population-served by the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) under MISSION Act.
CSP expansion puts the VHA out front of the healthcare industry as a healthcare system pioneer-caring for the caregiver.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/17/2026.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Specialized Experience : Experience providing administrative support to an interdisciplinary team of professionals and serving as the first point of contact to a large customer base, processing and reviewing documents.
Experience communicating effectively orally and in writing. Skilled in tracking work, projects and deadlines. Experience with Microsoft products.
Experience in general office procedures, filing systems, and clerical practices.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week.
Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary and is performed by sitting, standing, bending, and stooping.
The employee is required to obtain records from files, and carry files, manuals, and other light objects.
Occasional travel is required to provide support at conferences, workgroups, programs or meetings.

Major Duties:
Duties: The primary function of this position is to provide operational support to the VAMC CSP members and perform the full range of clerical, business, and administrative duties that ensure an efficient and effective PCAFC and PGCSS operation.
CSP PSA is the primary telephone, visitor, and patient reception contact of Caregiver Support Program and screens all customers' incoming calls.
The CSP PSA is responsible for receiving VA form 1010CG ( Caregiver Application) and entering the form into the VA web based data tracking system for use by local and VISN CSP staff.
Enters electronic work orders into VISTA for safety or other orders. Resolves problems associated with the administrative and clerical work of the CSP office.
The CSP PSA acts as timekeeper for CSP, maintaining time and leave records as needed and directed by position supervisor The CSP PSA maintains documents, folders and drive space for VAMC CSP on local, VISN and VACO websites and SharePoints.
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (subject to change based on the needs of the agency) Telework: Available per supervisor discretion. Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
