Job Description

Summary

This job involves providing administrative support to a program that helps caregivers of veterans by managing records, coordinating events, and ensuring everything follows rules.

Full Job Description

The purpose of this position is to perform administrative and program analysis work and ensure program compliance for Veterans in the Caregiver Support Program (CSP).

The program goal is to not only to support caregivers in their role but to also promote their health and well-being through education, therapeutic engagement, and resource and service linkage.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/17/2026.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.

An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.

If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.

In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Coordinating administrative activities for a program or office; maintaining and tracking data using automated systems; preparing reports, correspondence, and other program-related documents; ability to manage multiple tasks, interpret and apply policies and procedures; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; providing customer service to a variety of stakeholders; and work collaboratively within a team environment.

Experience supporting healthcare programs, social services, or caregiver-related services is highly desirable.

Major Duties:

Major duties include, but are not limited to: Provides comprehensive administrative and program support to the Caregiver Support Program (CSP) within Social Work Service.

Serves as a primary point of contact for caregivers, Veterans, and stakeholders, providing information on program services, eligibility requirements, and application processes.

Coordinates, tracks, and maintains caregiver applications, records, and program documentation in accordance with VA policies and privacy requirements.

Utilizes multiple VA information systems and databases to input, retrieve, and manage data related to caregiver services and program participation.

Assists in the planning, coordination, and execution of caregiver support activities, outreach events, and training sessions.

Monitors program workload and maintains tracking systems to ensure timely processing of caregiver referrals, inquiries, and program actions.

Prepares reports, correspondence, spreadsheets, and briefing materials for program staff and leadership.

Provides administrative support for meetings, including scheduling, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items.

Ensures compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures related to caregiver support services and administrative operations.

Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, including social workers, nurses, and program coordinators, to support program delivery.

Maintains office operations by managing supplies, coordinating logistics, and resolving routine administrative issues.

Assists in quality assurance activities by reviewing documentation for completeness and accuracy and identifying discrepancies.

Responds to inquiries in a professional and timely manner, demonstrating excellent customer service and communication skills. Performs other related duties as assigned.
