Full Job Description

The Patient Care Services Department is the largest service in the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare system.

Data management is a key resource for enabling nursing and hospital administration to affectively address issues and facilitate accurate tracking to improve processes, efficiency and to minimize cost, as well as assisting in establishing clinical process improvements to include optimum nurse staffing levels.

This data is also utilized in billing processes and national processes. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/17/2026.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.

An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.

If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.

In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-05) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience and demonstrated skill in effective verbal and written communications Experience and skill in managing transcription, video and other forms of technology Experience in creating and managing suspense files for meetings and Action Items Extensive computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office and various other computer applications Experience in effective fund control point management Experience with Time and Attendance systems as a timekeeper Experience in the use of government purchase cards and accounts management Experience in scheduling appointments Experience in filing and other general administrative skills Experience must be detailed in your resume for credit to be given.

Major Duties:

Duties: Prepares and gives oral presentations on assigned project's objectives and status for Nursing Service, such as labor mapping, overtime usage, trending data and leave patterns.

Works with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy of data related to staffing entered/submitted and in the analysis of information/reports from the various VA and other national databases in use.

Maintains a liaison with all services in the medical center in order to design studies which are reflective of the cross correlation between research items involving nursing service and other departmental common interest and issues.

Reviews and analyzes computer generated reports on a routine basis to verify the accuracy of the data, noting trends, and analyzing variances.

Performs monthly and quarterly report summaries which are submitted to nursing management for review. Performs studies and special projects when requested by management.

Work Schedule: Shift work 2:30pm-11:00pm or 10:30pm-7:00am evening/night with rotating weekends and holidays (subject to change based on the needs of the agency) Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
