The City of Pasadena Public Health Department is seeking a Program Coordinator II to work within the Social and Mental Health Division to provide program oversight and operational support, including programmatic reporting, grant development and management, budget monitoring, and high-level supervision of care coordination, ensuring that each program participant receives appropriate and timely support.
Working with populations historically disenfranchised is a central mission of the position.
The Program Coordinator II will oversee the Pasadena Outreach Response Team (PORT) and United Mental Health Promoter (UMHP) programs, which address mental health and supportive services needs of individuals experiencing homelessness through case management, housing navigation, and by building the capacity of the larger community to better serve the homeless.
The position will also provide oversight and serve as the City liaison with the Gang Outreach Violence Interruption Services (GOVIS) program, which addresses lowering gang violence in the City of Pasadena through connection to services and mediation techniques.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will possess strong supervisory and organizational skills to effectively manage grant-funded program requirements in an extremely high paced work setting.
A major component of successful participant connection and program success derives from a candidate’s familiarity with cultural experiences of program participants.
Personal life experience with relevant issues is highly valued.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate and build partnerships with clients, grant funders, and community members is necessary for productivity and success.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance would qualify.
Example combinations include: bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, social work, psychology, human services, or a closely related field and two years of professional experience managing a social service program.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process will consist of a training and experience evaluation, structured interview panel, and department- level interviews.
