Full Job Description

About the Position: This position is located in Sobe, Japan and is under the Logistics division asset management branch. This position is not covered by a bargaining unit.

The initial length of this overseas tour is 24 months. Federal employees in Sobe, Japan are currently entitled to receive a 0% Post Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary.

Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Who May Apply: U.S.

Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience for GS 13: One year of specialized experience which includes managing asset programs in accordance with established policies; preparing policy proposals for a variety of logistical functions such as: supply policy, storage, procurement, maintenance, repair, and/or shipment; and developing annual budgets of logistic programs.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Provides input and analysis for all logistics functions to include supply policy, procurement and acquisition, maintenance and repair of equipment, and supply storage.
  • Prepares policy proposals.
  • Measures compliance with long and short range plans aimed at increasing efficiency.
  • Coordinates logistical requirements in support of the established education specifications for school construction programs.
  • Assists the Headquarters and Districts Logistics staff in developing the annual Operations and Maintenance budget.
  • Monitors the outfitting, kitchen equipment maintenance, and curriculum materials management.
