This position is under the Decision Support System (DSS) Site Manager/Coordinator, serves as a facility point of contact for retrieval and interpretation of system information.
The position is responsible for interfacing with the medical center staff in soliciting input data and auditing the final product.
The position synthesizes information gathered to support development of a DSS system reflective of medical center operations and responsive to the medical center's needs.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to; Performing monthly data processing tasks associated with the operations and maintenance of Austin Mainframe Decision Support System or equivalent; Identifying, analyzing, and recommending solutions to problems in organizational structure, staffing, administrative procedures, work processes, or workload distribution; Advising cost accounting theories, practices, methods, and techniques; Utilizing qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing and measuring the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of programs throughout the medical center; Preparing project papers and staff reports, and briefing managers to encourage understanding and acceptance of findings.
Recommendations can have a significant impact on medical center resources, and Assembling techniques and systems for retrieving data from individual records and medical center data sources.

Physical Requirements: The position 's work is primarily sedentary but may involve some walking, standing, bending, and carrying small items such as books and papers.

Major Duties:
Duties include, but are not limited to: Collaborates with others to identify/clarify data needs, operationalize data elements, and format in a useful way.
Communicates with a wide variety of staff to gather and clarify information regarding DSS structure and mapping.
Communicates with staff at all levels of the organization and provides DSS training and education to staff. Performs monthly data processing tasks associated with the operations and maintenance of DSS.
Processes and audits data in the DSS system. Serves as staff support for data to major medical center committees.
Utilizes independent judgment and knowledge of established business principles, theories and practices. Make recommendations on appropriate changes to the DSS system.
Develops analytical tools to identify, format, and reduce data for analysis, to provide information to management in an easily recognized format, or to assist other analysts.
Adheres to current policies and procedures and maintains accurate records of processing activities.
Responsible for coordination of implementation, maintenance and training on DSS related tool or system. Responsible for oversight of DSS hardware.
Prepares reports and interprets and analyzes DSS reports for staff. Obtaining, interpreting and analyzing information from VISTA (electronic health record) and other Clinical source data.
Reviews and analyzes workload data, prepares analyses and presents recommendations. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm,; Subject to change based on the need of the facility.
