Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position.

For current and former Federal civilian service employees, to qualify for the GS-09 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector.

For all other applicants, to qualify for the GS-09 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-08 grade level or equivalent in the military or private sector.

Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement.

Creditable specialized experience includes: GS-07: Execute fabrication, overhaul, kit building, and repair of products.

Observe and analyze production operations to determine process efficiency and improvements. Coordinates timing and integration of production efforts.

GS-08: Observe and analyze production operations to determine process efficiency and improvements.

Conducts all phases of production planning, including estimating, scheduling, and expediting for repair, modification, and fabrication operations.

Plans and oversees production control projects, including inspection, repair, modification, and fabrication or kit building. B.

Education: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands Work for the most part is sedentary with no physical demands.

In the course of carrying out production controller duties, the controller is frequently required to visit the industrial area. This may involve walking, standing, bending, or carrying light items.

Work Environment The employee works in an office part of the time.

Production controller duties necessitate regular visits to production areas which involve moderate risks and discomfort and requires safety precautions.

The employee may be exposed to strong odors or fumes from paint, fuels or chemicals used in the work processes.

Regular use of appropriate safety equipment for the area visited is an occupational requirement. Major Duties:

• Plans and oversees production control projects, including inspection, repair, modification, and fabrication or kit building.
• Conducts all phases of production planning, including estimating, scheduling, and expediting for repair, modification, and fabrication operations.
• Reviews and analyzes schedules, references, and directives to determine project requirements, interpreting manufacturing data and standards.
• Determines the necessary machinery, equipment, work processes, and personnel required for each project.
• Researches and identifies sources for required materials through various catalogs and direct contact with suppliers to ensure availability.
• Compiles detailed cost estimates, including direct and indirect costs, and provides explanations for any figures that exceed limitations.
• Schedules and monitors production operations, collaborates with various departments to resolve delays, and ensures projects are completed on schedule.
