Full Job Description

You will serve as a Production Controller (Submarine) in the Submarine Project Offices of the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING GROTON.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: demonstrating effective written and oral communication skills suitable for engaging in constructive conversations and reports; knowledge of submarine, military or highly technical construction processes and test programs; working knowledge of contractor specification requirements, technical data, scheduling methods and cost/performance reports; basic proficiency in employing methods to prevent, investigate, analyze, plan and implement corrective actions for production problems and scheduling conflicts; and working knowledge of personal computers for networking, word processing, data analysis and database use.

  • You will review ship and/or system specifications, contract plans, basic contracts, Headquarters Modification Requests, Field Modifications Requests, schedules, and test forms.
  • You will review contractor and government procedures, technical reports, Engineering Reports, correspondence, and other information.
  • You will identify potential problems in the areas requiring special coordination efforts.
  • You will coordinate communications relative to the identification of all deficiencies, assign responsibility for corrective action, and initiate work authorization for items deemed to be the responsibility of the government to correct.
  • You will provide budget estimates for work specifications, Field Modification Requests, and initiates requests for funds.
  • You will be responsible for review and signature concurrence of the ship's sea trial agenda and coordinate and schedule all basic trial evolutions.
  • You will be responsible for coordinating the effort involved with maintaining the continuity of Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE) certification and Deep Submergence System Scope of Certification.
