About the Position: Serves as a Processing Technician (Office Automation) in a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) located in Cleveland, Ohio.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes interpreting and applying standardized transportation regulations; interpreting and applying rules and regulations in order to process applicants into an organization; utilizing a computer and various office automation systems.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.

Add the two percentages. Additional requirement: This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. Major Duties:

  • Use Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel or similar software to create presentations and develop spreadsheets, reports, charts, etc.
  • Use Microsoft Access or similar database software to create, monitor, maintain or update data.
  • Prepare required transportation orders for recruits from enlistment documents.
  • Conduct travel briefings to include providing meal tickets to traveling recruits.
  • Monitor airport closures and bus route delays due to impacted weather or road closures
  • Perform final quality review/quality control of applicant records, packets and forms
  • Refer applicants with additionally disclosed information to the appropriate enlistment, recruiting, or processing authority
  • Provide monthly Government Travel Registers (GTR's) and meal checks logs in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Notify supervisor on unusual situations or circumstances relative to transportation and processing support assignments.
