Do you have street cop experience and an in-depth knowledge and application of Pennsylvania laws? The Institute for Law Enforcement Education (ILEE) is a recognized leader in law enforcement highway safety training, providing instruction and certifications to thousands of officers annually across the state. This is a unique opportunity to share your knowledge and experience, along with industry best practices and current case law, with Commonwealth law enforcement professionals. Requirements

As a Police Training Education Specialist, you will be traveling across the state to facilitate courses for law enforcement officers.

Work involves reviewing scheduled courses, instructor requirements, course materials and equipment, and approving training facilities.

You will be responsible for delivering all necessary course materials and equipment to/from the training site for assigned courses; resolving logistics, equipment, course material, and scheduling issues; as well as recommending course revisions, changes to current programming, and new course offerings.

You will have the opportunity to serve as a liaison with the public, vendors, law enforcement personnel, law enforcement agencies, and PennDOT in support of the State and Community Highway Safety Program federal grant goals and outcomes.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining an accurate inventory of all course materials and equipment
  • Reviewing and authenticating student compliance with course completion criteria and certification requirements
  • Maintaining effective communications with ILEE stakeholders, outside agencies, and internal departments to facilitate referrals and exchanges of information
  • Providing scheduling and logistic guidance and support for law enforcement agencies
  • Assisting with data collection, research, and analysis for the preparation of reports, grant writing, and the budget

Classes are offered Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. A state vehicle will be provided, travel expenses and accommodations will be reimbursed. Overnight stays will also be required. You will be responsible for loading and unloading course materials.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: On days in which Instructor is not scheduled to teach classes or travel to a class site, the employee may have the opportunity to telework unless directed by the Program Manager/Division Chief to report to the Harrisburg office.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience as a sworn law enforcement officer that includes or is supplemented by one year of teaching or formal training experience in law enforcement programs, and completion of 60 college credits.


Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires four years of uniformed vehicle patrol experience.
