Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20.

The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

One year of specialized experience which includes Experience in performing a full range of police operations, in preventing and resolving crime, including conducting preliminary investigations of incidents, apprehending persons fleeing a crime scene or attempting to resist arrest, causing disturbances and providing visible protection and law enforcement.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-06. Major Duties:

  • Serve as a member of a Special Reaction Team.
  • Perform missions in a highly stressful and physically demanding environment.
  • Conduct preliminary investigations of obvious crimes or other security breaches such as unauthorized presence, threats, robbery, or assaults.
  • Respond to emergency calls.
  • Apply maximum security measures in safeguarding items of critical importance.
  • Prevent unauthorized or inadvertent entry into a limited/exclusion area, which utilizes multiple overlapping protection systems.
