Job Description

Summary

This job is for a senior police instructor in the Navy, where you'll teach law enforcement skills, develop training materials, and lead classes on topics like firearms safety and investigative techniques to help train other officers.

It's ideal for someone with hands-on police experience who enjoys educating and mentoring in a structured government setting.

You'll work closely with teams to ensure training meets real-world needs on military installations.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-08 level or equivalent, including instructing on laws, regulations, and investigative procedures
  • Completion of Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program as a condition of employment
  • Agreement to 36 months of continued service after FLETC training, with potential reimbursement for costs if not fulfilled

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying law enforcement procedures to instruct on Federal and local laws, traffic laws, established rules, regulations, and legal authorities; 2) Preparing instructional methods and theories used in a Police Officer's training environment; 3) Instructing investigative procedures, techniques, and methods to resolve crimes and other incidents; and 4) Developing course materials and techniques to train law enforcement personnel.

Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment.

Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy.

Agreement to Continue in Service - CSA, Agency requires 36 month of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR410.309.

Failure to voluntary complete length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to the agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as the senior training instructor for the organization as the resident subject matter expert and resource person.
  • You will prepare course material in the field of law enforcement.
  • You will conduct lectures, discussions, guided conferences, and demonstrations.
  • You will develop performance objectives and standards to identify training needs.
  • You will work closely with installation personnel and Regional Force Protection Training Academy staff.
  • You will provide classroom instruction in Firearms Safety, law enforcement equipment and techniques, and other topics.
  • You will conduct field inspections of weapons assigned to police personnel.
  • You will perform other duties at the direction and discretion of management.
